Overview
The School of Education is seeking postgraduate degree-qualified and experienced registered early childhood teachers who have a demonstrated track record of quality teaching to teach/mark units for our on-campus and online undergraduate courses, with expertise in the following area:
Early Childhood (Birth to 5 years) - Curriculum and Current Pedagogical Practice
Early Childhood (Birth to 8 years) - Curriculum and Current Pedagogical Practice
Opportunities are available during normal ECU semester times. There are also opportunities for intensive tutoring during a two-week period in early January. Full training will be provided.
Successful applicants for Sessional Tutor position will:
Demonstrate a positive professional track record aligned with the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Show a competent understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) V2.0 and the National Quality Standard (NQS), including the ability to explain and apply their key concepts in practice.
Hold an Early Childhood Teaching qualification at Master’s level, or an Early Childhood Teaching qualification combined with a PhD.
Have experience working in early childhood education.
Demonstrate strong and effective approaches to teaching and/or assessment.
Be able to work independently and meet required timeframes.
Professional equivalence may be demonstrated through one or more of the following:
Leadership in developing teacher professional standards.
Senior roles requiring high-level judgement and expert advice.
Management of significant projects in the education field.
Recognition through testimonials, awards, or other professional acknowledgements.
Contributions to the education sector via advisory boards or professional networks.
Peer reviewed publications in education.
Other publications such as books, reports, or creative works.
Leadership or management of research recognised by peers.
You will also demonstrate personal attributes that align with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage.
