Job Description

Amherst College invites applications for the Casual Groundsperson position. The Casual Groundsperson is a part-time, casual position with no benefits, starting at $17.00/hour. The Casual Groundsperson will maintain and care for the College's grounds and structures. The Casual Groundsperson takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Clean-up of property
• Snow removal
• Raking, lawn mowing, and seasonal outdoor work
• Operation of trucks and other motorized equipment
• Service and inspection of tools and equipment
• Assist other shops within the Facilities Department, which may include moving furniture, books, etc.

Qualifications:

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver's license and successful credentialing is required in order to operate college vehicles
• 6 months of experience
• Strong customer service, organizational, and time-management skills
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Familiarity in operating motorized equipment, including lawnmowers, weed trimmers, etc.
• Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
• An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
• Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test
