Job Description
The Centers for Early Childhood Education Lead Preschool Teacher-EEC Certification is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum integrated across content areas to meet the needs of all children in a literacy-enriched, inclusive, culturally and linguistically responsive learning environment. This includes collaborating with co-teachers, creating a positive classroom environment, facilitating lessons that encourage self-expression and concept understanding through hands-on experiences, promoting social-emotional learning, using assessment tools to measure children's development, and maintaining communication with families.
Supervision is received from the Director of the Centers for Early Childhood Education and the Assistant Director. Supervision is exercised over Child and Family Studies majors, students in related majors, and FSU student employees.
Specific duties include planning and implementing curriculum based on observations and best practices, co-teaching with staff, arranging the classroom with appropriate materials, maintaining parent communication, completing developmental screenings and assessments, sharing information during parent-teacher conferences, and assisting early childhood education students with assignments.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts or Science in Early Childhood Education or related field, and hold or be working towards Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Lead Preschool Teacher Certification.
Preferred Qualifications: Fluency in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teacher License in Early Childhood Education, or Masters of Education in early childhood, literacy and language, or special education.
Additional Qualifications: American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificates, and undergo a background record check according to EEC regulations.

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit. Benefits include health, dental, retirement, generous tuition remission, and leave packages. The Centers operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. year-round, with a Monday through Friday schedule. Some evenings for family events are required. This is a grant-funded position with a salary range of $54,000 - $58,000 per year, contingent on funding through June 2027.
