Job Description
The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to work with our Baseball program. This position requires an individual skilled in illness and injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and care encountered by student-athletes in competitive athletics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Injury Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation (65%)
- Collecting all medical paperwork including assistance with pre-participation examinations.
- Performing any baseline testing, including corrective exercise screenings, movement profiles, as well as development of individual protocols and maintenance programs for injury prevention or movement deficiencies.
- Coordinating medical care for all in-season and official team practices/workouts including home hosting duties and traveling to away contests.
- Staying on top of all medical maintenance needs and EAP’s for home and away contests including prior communication to the other team’s ATC’s.
- Acting as liaison to the team physicians and other medical providers to ensure proper care is received.
- Following all prescribed rehabilitation and treatment protocols of team physicians (including if/when a student athlete is referred to formalized rehab.)
- Performing all treatments, rehabilitations, taping/bracing, and casting as needed.
- Properly document all injuries/illnesses including mental health into the E.M.R. platform.
- Assisting with medical coverage of other teams as needed or assigned.
2. Student-athlete and Coaching Staff Communication (20%)
- Preparing timely and accurate documents such as injury/illness reports, care and reconditioning updates, daily athletic training records, injury/illness and communicate summaries for sport coaches (including Strength & Conditioning Coach), medical and other correspondence.
- Communicating effectively with strength and conditioning coaches regarding the injured student-athletes strength and conditioning parameters and limitations associated with injury rehabilitation.
- Consulting with coaching staff on conditioning programs, safety of proper athletic activities, equipment safety, and safety of facilities and grounds at competitive venues.
3. Athletic Training Room Operations (10%)
- Participating in our mentorship program with your assigned AT.
- Providing supervision, instruction, delegation, evaluation, and assistance with students including volunteer, internships, clinical immersion, and federal work study.
- Aiding in the advancement of the athletic training facility including maintenance and upkeep of your assigned facility.
- Aiding in the advancement of your assigned facilities including maintenance, upkeep, inventory and ordering.
- Performing other duties as assigned or pro-actively added by the Director, Senior Associate Director, and/or Associate Director of Sports Medicine.
4. Administration, Documentation, and Compliance (5%)
- Maintain B.O.C. certification and Missouri licensure with accumulation of CEU’s.
- Maintain medical malpractice liability insurance.
- Collaborate with other staff members to help develop in the areas of rehab, treatment, movement profiles, and readiness score/testing.
- Participate in opportunities that help with research collaboration.
Shift
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior athletic training experience working with Division I Baseball is preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $54,000.00 - $69,500.00 per year
Grade: GGS 9E
