Job Overview
Assist in the continued development of the limited representation program and help represent clients under the supervision of a Help Center attorney.
Essential Functions
- Provide limited same-day legal representation to tenants in eviction court under the supervision of a Help Center attorney.
- Draft written pleadings, prepare for hearings and otherwise resolve eviction related issues.
- Assist with outcome tracking.
- Draft and improve model pleadings.
- Prepare self-help materials to assist self-represented litigants understand the law, court processes and litigate their cases.
- Work to identify solutions to address systemic issues faced by self-represented litigants.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Registration for the July 2026 Ohio Bar Examination.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Legal Intern Certificate as provided by Rule II of the Ohio Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar of Ohio.
Required Experience
- At least one (1) semester of externship and/or volunteer experience working with tenants in need of eviction representation
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Experience and/or demonstrated skill development in trial advocacy and negotiation.
- A demonstratable commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable individuals.
- Experience building community partnerships.
- Foreign language abilities.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
