Extended Job Title: Certified Sr Clinic Medical/Nursing Assistant

Position Description: Employees in this classification are in the senior position of this career track and provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. May supervise other Medical Assistants, clerical staff and student positions. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions:

• Assist with quality improvement projects such as communication of waits and delays and chart audits.
• Clean and examine procedure tables, equipment, and other work areas according to infection control and/or isolation procedures.
• Stock exam/procedure rooms as assigned, inventory specialty items, and initiate reorder of supplies as needed.
• Report non-functioning or defective equipment to the supervisor immediately.
• Ensure all supplies, including procedure trays, are up-to-date and replace expired materials as necessary by following sterile processing procedures.
• Clean and sterilize procedure scopes.
• Complete daily opening and/or closing of clinic checks, ensuring that defibrillator and other safety equipment are working properly.
• Complete daily glucometer checks and report any issues immediately to the supervisor.
• Download patient glucometer readings for clinic visits.
• Provide high-quality customer service to patients.

Required Qualifications: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty. Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty in which the particular work will be performed; a minimum of two years of directly related experience.
