Chair, Faculty of Education
The Position
Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Education, the Chair, Faculty of Education provides academic leadership and operational oversight, advancing the mission, vision, and reputation of programs within the Faculty of Education, including the Master of Education – Educational Leadership program, within Yorkville University and the broader academic community.
This role is accountable for curriculum design, faculty engagement, student success, and research initiatives, while ensuring the highest standards of academic governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of the Campus Leadership Team, the Chair fosters collaboration across disciplines, cultivates external partnerships, and champions innovative initiatives that enhance student outcomes, strengthen community engagement, and align with institutional priorities.
The Chair also provides academic administration leadership, including the mentorship and support of program leaders, faculty, and students. By promoting a culture of academic rigor, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, the Chair advances excellence in teaching, scholarship, and student achievement, while championing Yorkville University’s mission to transform lives through excellence and innovation in education.
The Ideal Candidate
While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all the following qualifications in equal measure, they are desirable and will be used in the assessment of candidates for the position:
- Terminal degree in education or educational leadership or equivalent (PhD preferred), with a research focus in education.
- Current/Active teaching certification in a Canadian province or territory in the K-12 system.
- Leadership experience in postsecondary administration, including program development and accreditation.
- Broad understanding of academic operations in a post-secondary setting, including resource planning, people and financial management, and the coordination of academic activities.
- Proven expertise in curriculum design and instructional innovation across online, blended, and in-person modalities.
- Strong track record of recruiting and developing diverse faculty.
- Commitment to student success and learner-centered education.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in educational technologies and Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Details
- This position can be performed remotely within Canada, with a preference for candidates based near Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- The salary range for this position is $110,000 to 120,000 per year.
