Position Summary:
As the Head of the School of Nursing, you will lead Methodist University’s growing nursing programs, including Pre‑licensure BSN, RN‑to‑BSN, DNP, and any future degrees. You oversee curriculum, accreditation and compliance, faculty development, student success, clinical partnerships, scholarship, and participation in institutional governance—ensuring full alignment with NC Board of Nursing requirements and CCNE accreditation standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leadership & Academic Governance
- Provide vision and leadership in developing all nursing program offerings in accordance with regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Recruit, supervise and mentor nursing faculty, staff and clinical instructors; foster professional development.
- Lead faculty governance, strategic planning, budgeting, and school-level initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow program directors and chairs within the College of Health Sciences and Human Services (CHSHS) to promote and implement interprofessional educational opportunities.
Curriculum, Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance
- Direct ongoing curriculum evaluation, mapping, and revision to align with professional and regulatory standards.
- Monitor key program outcomes (NCLEX pass rates, retention, remediation, graduate outcomes) and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate CCNE self-studies, annual reports, and site visits.
Administrative & Resource Management
- Oversee program budget, develop funding proposals, and support simulation resource acquisition.
- Collaborate with institutional advancement to secure grants or support aligned with strategic goals.
Clinical Partnerships & Practice Coordination
- Oversee and maintain clinical affiliation agreements, including for Dedicated Education Units (DEUs) with partner systems.
- Ensure clinical hours, preceptor assignments, and simulation
Teaching & Student Advising
- Support orientation and transition programs for first‑degree and RN‑to‑BSN students.
- Advise students on progression, academic planning, and professional development.
- Teach in area(s) of clinical expertise within nursing curriculum (didactic, simulation, and clinical) courses.
Scholarship, Professional Engagement & Service
- Maintain an active record of scholarship (peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or innovations) in nursing education.
- Represent the program in professional nursing and academic organizations, foster community and clinical partnerships.
- Serve on university-level committees, advising boards, accreditation task forces, and regional health education initiatives.
Working Conditions
- Full-time faculty workload with responsibilities in teaching, administration, scholarship, and service.
- Supervisory responsibility for full-time faculty, clinical instructors, and support staff.
- Availability for occasional evening/weekend commitments tied to accreditation visits, clinical site oversight, or department events.

Qualifications
Required
- Earned doctoral degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) in Nursing or related discipline.
- Current, unencumbered RN licensure in North Carolina and eligibility for NC BON program leadership oversight.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in nursing education leadership (e.g., curriculum development, accreditation management, and/or chair/director role).
- Evidence of collaborative leadership and teaching excellence.
Preferred
- Experience with CCNE-accredited undergraduate nursing programs.
- Demonstrated scholarly work in nursing education, leadership, or clinical practice.
- Established partnerships with clinical agencies in southeast North Carolina.
- Certification as nurse educator (CNE) or healthcare simulation educator (CHSE) preferred.
