Chair of Advisory Board for King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence
About the role
King’s College London seeks to appoint an individual with a strong public profile, established and influential networks, and experience of fulfilling roles of national significance in an AI context to establish and chair an advisory board for the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
This new board, and its chair, will contribute to positioning King’s as a globally recognised thought-leader in AI research and policy. The successful candidate will bridge academia, industry and policymakers, leveraging high-level networks to elevate the Institute's external profile and impact.
This will be a 0.2FTE role offered on a fixed term basis for an initial term of 3 years.
This is a part time post (7 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 16 January 2029.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Leadership: strong track record of strategic leadership at a nationally significant level in technology and/or policy environments
- AI policy and application expertise: Deep understanding of UK AI ecosystem and experience at a senior level in public policy on AI, or extensive interaction with AI policy leaders at the highest levels
- Network, profile and partnerships: Extensive professional networks spanning industry, government and academia, with ability to convene and influence senior leaders, and track record in brokering and sustaining high-value strategic partnerships, including securing funding
- Communication: outstanding public speaking and media relations skills with experience representing organisations at the highest levels
- Understanding of the UK higher education landscape, including sector-wide challenges; appreciation of university culture, governance structures, and the complexities of inter-sector collaboration in a UK context
