Job Summary:
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine, the Chair of Neurology holds responsibility for the strategic direction, academic vision, financial performance, and operations of the Department across its clinical, research, and educational missions. The Chair leads the Department's sections and vice chairs, oversees its clinical enterprise and budget, represents Neurology in negotiations with UCHealth and the School of Medicine, and serves as the Department's principal advocate for space, funds flow, and investment.
Chairs at CU operate with substantial autonomy. Departments are federated, run their own book of business, and reinvest what they earn. Chairs function as executives of a complex enterprise while contributing to the broader interests of the School and campus. The environment rewards business fluency, decisiveness, and the willingness to build a case with data. The next Chair will also maintain an active clinical or scholarly presence sufficient to remain credible with a faculty that values practicing colleagues.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
· An MD or MD/PhD, board certification in Neurology
· Must meet the requirements for a faculty appointment at the full professor level at the University of Colorado, Anschuitz School of Medicine
· Financial and operational fluency sufficient to lead a federated department through funds flow, cFTE, and compensation redesign, and to build data-supported arguments for investment
· A distinguished record of scholarship and academic leadership in neurology or the neurosciences, with demonstrated ability to build, fund, and sustain research programs of national standing;
· Demonstrated organizational and executive leadership in a complex academic medical setting, including responsibility for budgets, personnel, and operations at scale;
· A record of improving patient access and clinical operations, including experience with advanced practice provider models, telehealth, and community and regional care delivery;
· Success in recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding faculty and staff, with genuine commitment to mentorship and to the development of early-career section and program leaders;
· Understanding of the full range of academic career paths and the judgment to support and compensate clinical, research, and educational effort equitably and transparently;
· Commitment to educational excellence across the continuum of learners, and demonstrated willingness to invest in training programs and the faculty who lead them;
· A collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership, with a track record of building productive relationships across departments, institutes, affiliated sites, and health system partners;
