Position Reports To: Director of Student Engagement
Salary: $10,300
Position Summary:
Manhattan University is seeking a Head Coach for the Cheerleading team. The Cheerleaders are a team which performs regularly at all home men's and women's basketball games, pep rally's, and other large, school-wide events, functions, or athletic events. They also attend NCA in Daytona, Florida. The Head Coach must maintain a safe environment for students to participate. The Head Coach is responsible for the recruitment of students and tryouts, weekly practices, and choreography of routines. They are responsible for all logistics and ordering associated with the team, marketing, uniforms and costumes, along with fundraising required by the group. This is an on campus non-remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all cheerleading team activities
- Create and implement practice schedules
- Develop creative and engaging routines for performances
- Manage team logistics, including ordering supplies and coordinating uniforms
- Oversee fundraising initiatives to support team activities
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulations throughout all activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Previous experience in coaching cheerleading or a related field
- Strong understanding of choreography and routine design
- Ability to recruit and retain team members effectively
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of safety protocols and risk management in a cheerleading setting
