Term: The appointment will initially be offered on a five (5) year, full-time basis with potential for renewal.

Remuneration: This position has an annual remuneration of $256,348 pa, inclusive of an annual salary of $216,617 pa, 17% superannuation and leave loading. Additionally, an attractive package with the option to include a clinical loading will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Location: The Professor and Chair will be located at Kelvin Grove or Herston within the Centre for Immunology and Infection Control.

Who are we looking for?

QUT has a unique opportunity to recruit a visionary research leader to take up the position of inaugural Chenhall Chair in Cancer Therapeutics. The position builds on QUT’s outstanding record of research in cancer biology, and Queensland’s strengths in translation and implementation science.

The Chenhall Chair in Cancer Therapeutics will add to the expertise within Queensland to create new opportunities for translational research in Queensland and nationally.

The successful candidate will join QUT as a Professorial Chair, bringing an exemplary research portfolio and track record in emerging technology areas with the ability to partner with industry and clinicians to create new therapeutics and take them forward into clinical trials.

The position is open to clinician researchers or senior scientists. For clinician researchers, an appropriate clinical appointment would be established.

What you need to succeed

Applicants will be assessed against the following selection criteria:

  1. Completion of a doctoral qualification in Medicine or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and professional standing appropriate for appointment at a professorial level.
  2. A nationally and internationally recognised track record of research leadership within the discipline of cancer therapeutics, including evidence of sustained, high-quality research output, record of securing substantial external research funding.
  3. Strong understanding of emerging trends in cancer therapeutics, with the capacity to position QUT as a leader in this evolving field.
  4. Demonstrated academic leadership and strategic vision, with the capacity to shape the future of cancer therapeutics research, attract and mentor high-performing teams, and foster a culture of excellence, impact and innovation.
  5. Proven excellence in higher education teaching and curriculum design, including the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and supervision.
  6. A record of effective engagement with government, industry, philanthropic and community stakeholders, with the ability to build strategic alliances that enhance the University’s research capacity and societal contribution.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, including advancing inclusive leadership practices and fostering safe, respectful and supportive research and teaching environments.
