About the Program:

Chicana/o Studies (CHS) is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to the study of Mexican and Latin American origin populations in the United States. It uses a transborder approach to examine racial and social justice issues through its interdisciplinary curriculum, critical pedagogy, community engagement/service-learning projects, and culturally relevant programming.

About the Position:

Chicana/o Studies Part-Time Lecturer

Minimum Degree Requirements:

Master's Degree in Chicana/o or Latina/o Studies, or other relevant Social Science or Humanities discipline; ABD considered.

Required Qualifications:

• Appropriate training in a field/sub-field relative to the teaching assignment; strong commitment to undergraduate education; a record of effective teaching experience including interactive classroom strategies; and commitment to work in a student-centered multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.
• Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have at least an M.A., preferably a Ph.D (or ABD), plus a record of effective teaching with a variety of appropriate methodologies; experience in the use of innovative instructional strategies and technologies; an established research agenda that could involve undergraduates; interdisciplinary teaching experience; experience with curriculum and program development; experience in and commitment to ongoing teaching and learning assessment; facility in Spanish, or other language skills relevant to our community.

We are currently seeking qualified part-time instructor to teach the following course: CHS349 Chicano/as/Latino/as and Education

Compensation:

California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules can be found at Range 2: $5,507-$6,677, Range 3: $6,221-$13,224, Range 4: $6,825-$14,523, Range 5: $8,593-$15,211.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
