Organizational Overview:Bergin College of Canine Studies has a singular vision: to advance the human-canine partnership through research and education. That vision is expressed in a growing range of programs, inspired, and informed by the breakthrough of Dr. Bonnie Bergin. Using leading-edge academic coursework along with daily hand-on experience, students can expand their knowledge and skills for scholarly or career purposes, or enhance the parameters of their existing specialty using the unique perspective and potential provided by human-canine studies.
Position Description:The Chief Academic Officer maintains the administrative, faculty and student services responsibilities for Bergin College of Canine Studies. This position will be expected to maintain academic records for Bergin College of Canine Studies. This position will take place in an office setting and is a highly administratively focused role.
Responsibilities:
Manage the Bergin College of Canine Studies Student Affairs programs:
- Student enrollment, attrition and graduation, I-20 forms & international student requirements
- Recertification process to continue to allow international students, register students each semester in SEVIS
- Advising in activities, career development, and graduation ceremonies
- Assist with regulatory effectiveness: o Compliance and regulatory requirements o College Policies & Procedures
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a dynamic Colleges:
- Selection, hiring, orientation, management, professional development, evaluation, and separation of:
- Academic faculty
- Academic and admissions support staff
- Track and maintain professional development and all required faculty and academic documentation
- Guide the programing and assessment of learning outcomes
- Help set & communicate program priorities and performance standards
- Provide leadership to ensure College maintains SAP in areas of attendance, grades, matriculation, and graduation
- Creative changes in educational programming, processes, and procedures
- Distance education management
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a dynamic Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for each degree program:
- Select and meet PAC member requirements
- Host PAC meetings once a year
- Maintain and follow up with PAC suggestions
- Participate in long range academic strategic planning in conjunction with faculty, PAC members and management.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Masters degree (Educational or Admin focus preferred)
- A minimum of three years working at a college, university, or two-year community college.
- A minimum of four years in management, two of which would have been spent assisting in the administration of academic affairs of a community or two-year college or university.
- Previous experience working with, having a strong knowledge of, or interest in working around and with canines.
- Knowledge and experience to manage a private postsecondary degree granting college or university curriculum and faculty.
- Strong management, reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Compatibility with the organizations direction and purpose.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 per year
