Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Munich Quantum Valley gGmbH (MQV)

Role and Responsibilities:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides overall strategic and operational leadership for MQV gGmbH. In close coordination with the shareholders, represented by Munich Quantum Valley e. V., and in collaboration with the scientific and administrative leadership teams, the role includes in particular:

• Shaping and implementing MQV gGmbH’s strategic direction in quantum science, technology, and innovation;
• Leading and coordinating large-scale research, development, and infrastructure programs in collaboration with academic and industrial partners, in line with MQV gGmbH’s statutes and governance framework;
• Overseeing financial, personnel, legal, and administrative functions, ensuring sound governance structures and operational excellence;
• Representing MQV gGmbH nationally and internationally to governmental, academic, industrial, and other stakeholders;
• Developing sustainable funding strategies, including acquisition of public resources, private partnerships, and third-party funding;
• Building and maintaining an open, diverse, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture.

Candidate Profile:

We are seeking an outstanding and experienced leader with demonstrated excellence in managing large scientific, technological, or innovation-driven organizations or programs. The ideal candidate will bring:

• Extensive executive leadership experience in academia, industry, or the public sector;
• Proven ability to manage complex organizations, budgets, and teams, ideally in an international context;
• Strategic thinking, excellent communication, and networking skills across sectors and disciplines;
• Familiarity with scientific research environments (experience in quantum science or related fields is an asset but not required);
• Strong commitment to excellence, diversity, and collaboration;
• Fluency in English; proficiency in German or willingness to acquire it is expected.

Appointment Details:

Location: Munich, Germany

Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with senior roles in the public research and innovation sector

Appointment: By the shareholders’ assembly of MQV gGmbH
