Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
Job Description
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) provides leadership and guidance to the institutions HR operations. The CHRO ensures a caring, collaborative and respectful work environment. The CHRO is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources and risk management policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic human resource and risk management goals. Human Resource departments includes Payroll, Benefits, Employment Services, Training, Recruitment Services and Employee Relations.
Education and Experience :
Masters degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- Ten years of human resource management experience; and
- Five years of full-time senior management experience in human resource management.
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Ability :
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to provide strategic HR guidance and sound counsel on personnel issues
- Strong understanding of human resource and risk management operations and best practices
- Ability to manage complex and/or sensitive projects
- Ability to turn innovative HR ideas into realized employee-centered solutions
- Ability to foster and maintain a cooperative and respectful work environment
- Ability to lead diverse teams with a wide range of skills and experience
- Ability to adapt organizational structure to suit changing needs
- Knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations and developments
- Knowledge of risk management and Title IX related laws, regulations and developments
- Ability to utilize varied human resource information systems to achieve effective results
Essential Functions:
- Establish and implement workforce development strategies that support the institutions mission and strategic vision
- Shape organization-wide culture by creating a supportive work environment that encourages innovation at all levels and rewards high performance
- Function as a strategic business advisor to the leadership team regarding key organizational, management and personnel issues.
- Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting, retention and succession plans that enhance organizational decision-making and growth
- Implement institutional training that expands employee skills, capabilities and their CTCD knowledge
- Develop and implement comprehensive compensation plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
- Lead resolution of complex employee situations
- Provide overall leadership and guidance for all human resources and risk management functions
