The Chief oversees all departmental functions, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, crime prevention, communications, training, emergency management, special event security, traffic management, and public safety outreach. The position is responsible for establishing departmental policies, procedures, and operational priorities consistent with university goals and NYS legal requirements and law enforcement best practices.

The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural competence, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

The Chief serves as a key advisor to university leadership on matters related to public safety, emergency preparedness, risk management, and law enforcement operations.

The Chief works proactively with Student Affairs, Residential Life, Counseling Services, and other campus partners to support student well-being, behavioral threat assessment processes, violence prevention initiatives, and campus safety education programs.
