About the Opportunity:

Northeastern University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships Program is a two-year experiential program designed to advance lifelong learning and the education and training of Pharm.D. graduates. Critical to the success of the program is our ability to prepare Fellows to meet the ongoing workforce needs in various areas of industry.

Our program gives fellows an opportunity to work with our innovative biopharmaceutical industry partners while collaborating with Northeastern University faculty in professional and career development, service, scholarship, and teaching.

In partnership with Northeastern University, Chiesi Global Rare Diseases (GRD) is offering a two-year North America Medical Affairs PharmD fellowship based out of Boston, Massachusetts.

The goal of the Global Rare Diseases unit is to ensure equal access so as many people as possible can experience their most fulfilling life. The unit collaborates with the rare disease community around the globe to bring voice to underserved people in the health care system.

Responsibilities:

The Medical Affairs fellowship at Chiesi GRD offers the opportunity for fellows to develop a proficient understanding of a Medical Affairs department, the role and operations of the department within and outside of Chiesi GRD, and the unique aspects of serving a rare disease community. Throughout the fellowship, the fellow will engage in projects to learn and understand different disease states, product data, and the roles and functions within Medical Affairs.

The fellow will develop an understanding of industry practice, regulations and guidance that govern activities including clinical development and post-marketing research, HCP and patient interactions, scientific publications, field materials, sponsorships, grants. Fellow activity will often involve working cross-functionally with teams outside of Medical Affairs including Legal/Compliance, Sales & Marketing, Market Access/HEOR, Patient Advocacy, Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs. The fellow will also participate in key Medical Affairs activities including the following:

  • Engage in the exchange of data and knowledge with both internal and external audiences in a scientific and balanced manner as they relate to disease state awareness, clinical trial design and outcomes, and real-world data
  • Contribute to planning, developing, and updating scientific communication materials for the Field Medical team and congresses
  • Provide support for publications by identifying data gaps, generating publication concepts, and executing on product publication plans
  • Collaborate with the medical director(s), marketing, legal, and regulatory teams to review medical and promotional materials for scientific accuracy
  • Participate in collaborative research activities by reviewing proposals, supporting site recruitment and education, and evaluating study conduct and data analyses
  • Work with the Field Medical team to gain an understanding of thought leader engagement and territory management by developing and fostering relationships with key HCPs, researchers, and institutions
  • Collect and analyze insights from Field Medical and congresses to appropriately inform and prioritize activities to meet the needs of the scientific community
  • Staff medical booths and collect scientific information at congresses
  • Support Medical Affairs operations and other Medical Affairs teams in following appropriate policies and procedures and management of finances

Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts.

Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at the industry site and Northeastern.

Expected Hiring Range: $59,425.00 - $83,935.00
