Child Life Gaming Specialist (per diem)
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a Recreational Therapy Specialist/Child Life Gaming Specialist is a valuable member of our team, who provides quality child life services to children and families in assigned work area(s) throughout Stony Brook Children's Hospital and who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a Child Life Gaming Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:
- Assist children in the development of coping skills through game play and recreation.
- Collaborate with child life staff in development and implementation of new and effective digital programming.
- Work in conjunction with health care team members to identify current patient needs and develop care plan goals for gaming and tablet use.
- Use gaming tools and tablets to help children cope.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or gaming technology related field.
- At least 1 year of experience working with gaming and technology in a pediatric setting.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evening, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum three years employment in a gaming or technology focused position serving children.
- Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Creative Arts Therapy or related field.
- Dual Certified Child Life (CCLS) and Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT).

Posting Overview:
This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. An initial review of all applicants will occur two weeks from the posting date. Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is - $28.00 - 35.00 / hour
The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
