Overview of CUG
Situated at the foot of the Nanwang Mountain and on the bank of East Lake, China University of Geosciences is a key national university under the administration of the Ministry of Education. It is also listed in “Project 211” and “Double First-Class Initiative”.
Focusing on the frontier of academic disciplines and the needs of economic and social development, CUG has built an academic ecosystem in which multiple disciplines develop coordinately with earth sciences as the leading one. At present, CUG boasts two national first-level key disciplines and 16 Hubei provincial key disciplines. Two first-level disciplines, “geology” and “geological resources and geological engineering”, rank first respectively among their counterparts in every national discipline assessment. CUG has 23 schools, 65 undergraduate programs, 34 first-level discipline master’s programs, 16 doctoral programs and 15 postdoctoral research stations. CUG confers 10 professional master’s degrees including MBA, MPA and Master of Engineering which covers 14 engineering fields.
CUG boasts more than 3,225 staff members, including over 1,876 teachers. The faculty include 11 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 310 Ph.D. supervisors, 520 professors and 927 associate professors. There are 86 research institutions, laboratories, and research institutes/centers, including 2 state key laboratories, 1 state research center for engineering technology, 1 international cooperation base of science and technology for geological engineering and 1 demonstration base for training innovative talents respectively supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The university has a perfect experimental and practical teaching system, including 3 state demonstration centers for experimental teaching and 1 state experimental teaching center for virtual simulation.

Requirements
Selected for various high-level talent programs; associate professors and above, or an equivalent professional and technical title at a renowned university or a research institution at home and abroad.

2. Youth Project of National Program for Innovative Talents
Requirements
A doctoral degree at the age of no more than 40 years old; 36 or more consecutive months of overseas research experience.
The requirement of service year overseas can be waived, if you have obtained a doctoral degree overseas with outstanding performance.
Holding a formal teaching or research position at a famous overseas university or a scientific research institution or at the R&D department of a renowned enterprise.
If you have already been working in China, your return time to China should be less than one year.
Standing out among your peers and having the potential to become an academic or technological leader in the discipline.
Benefits
Remuneration: an annual salary over 500,000 RMB. A one-time bonus of 50,000 RMB; teaching allowance, research performance bonus and bonus for high-level research achievements if you obtain excellent performance at the end of an appointment term.
Title: a direct appointment of professor and doctoral supervisor.
Supervision: being eligible to supervise 1-2 doctoral students and 2-3 master’s students each year and to recruit 3 post-doctors with an annual salary of 200,000 RMB each.
Funding: a research start-up fund up to 5-6 million RMB (2-3 million RMB offered by the state and 3 million RMB offered by the university).
Living allowance: 2.5 million RMB for living allowance (including state and provincial subsidies).
Housing: transitional housing on campus; being eligible to purchase residential commercial housing for teachers.
Others: assistance with job-hunting for spouse; access to educational resources for children, such as CUG affiliated Kindergarten, primary school and junior high school; access to medical services of Grade-A tertiary hospitals or above.
