Choral Accompanist

This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.
Accountabilities
The Colgate University Department of Music seeks a collaborative pianist to work with the choral ensembles. Experience working in collaboration with choirs is preferred but pianists who have worked with vocalists in any capacity or other instrumentalists will also be considered.
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- At least one post-secondary degree in piano performance or collaborative piano. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered
- Fluency in open-score reading
- Excellent sight-reading skills
- Successful record of achievement in solo and collaborative piano performance
- Must be a team player, with ability to work well with college-age students
- Ability to travel to Colgate twice a week for rehearsals (Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm-8:30pm, and extended hours during performance weeks
- Commitment to performing and exploring diverse repertoire
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in music with significant accompanying experience, Master’s degree preferred.
Additional significant accompanying experience may be considered instead of a degree.
Ability to sight read or prepare, prior to rehearsal, piano accompaniments and choral scores.
