CIHR Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Neuromodulation for Gait Disorders
The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a CIHR Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Neuromodulation for Gait Disorders. This is a five-year position, renewable once, for exceptional emerging scholars at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Overview: The Department of Orthopaedics has an international reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. It focuses on creating knowledge, advancing learning, and improving musculoskeletal health. The primary laboratory space will be at ICORD, an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to spinal cord injuries.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Orthopaedics, the successful candidate will develop a strong, innovative research program in spinal cord injury; conduct scientific inquiry from laboratory to clinical investigation; participate in teaching and mentoring; provide service to the University; attract external funding; and collaborate across disciplines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline and an MD degree, be in good standing with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, have completed fellowship training in spine surgery and functional neurosurgery, be eligible for licensure in British Columbia, demonstrate teaching and research excellence in neuromodulation for SCI, and show commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
