Civil Rights and Title IX Case Manager
Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Case Manager serves as a liaison between the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX and stakeholders, including, but not limited to, students, employees, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Police and Public Safety, and members of the public. The Case Manager is responsible for the intake, management, and, where appropriate, assignment of all reports related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. The Case Manager is responsible for the coordination of case-specific supportive measures, accommodations, and resource referrals.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
- Reviews assigned reports made to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX and makes immediate contact per standard operating procedures.
- Coordinates all outreach and ongoing communication to all parties associated with reports, including complainants, respondents, and witnesses.
- Meets with involved parties to discuss university processes, parties’ rights and options, supportive and interim measures, accommodations, referrals, resources, and other information as necessary.
- Makes determinations, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Director, regarding requests by individuals for interim measures and accommodations.
- Communicates effectively with all persons in compliance with FERPA and other employment-related privacy laws.
- Collaborates closely with relevant offices to provide a holistic approach to services for student-related and employee-related cases.
- Follows up with all involved parties regularly after a report is resolved to ensure continued support and success.
- Collects and analyzes data, identifies trends, and develops strategies for future communication and outreach.
- Participates in assessment of community development needs and designing programs, services, and communication strategies.
- Other duties as assigned, including providing training and education to the community about civil rights, Title IX, and Campus SaVE.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or other relevant area and 4 years of related professional experience, OR a master’s degree in counseling, social work, or other relevant area and 2 years of related professional experience
- Experience managing/assisting individuals in crisis
- Experience with programming and education/training initiatives
