This position ensures incoming and outgoing trailers are unloaded and loaded correctly, safely, and in a timely manner. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and shipping activities while upholding all company safety, quality, and productivity standards.Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:• Organize and maintain the overall layout and organization of the warehouse.
• Ensure incoming trailers are unloaded safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
• Ensure outgoing trailers are loaded correctly, safely, and according to shipping requirements.
• Coordinate shipping activities to ensure products are prepared and shipped according to established schedules and ship dates.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control activities.
• Use inventory control management systems to track and maintain inventory information.
• Verify materials and products are properly identified, packaged, crated, and prepared for shipment.
• Perform crating and packaging activities as required.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect shipments and materials for accuracy and identify discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns.
• Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, shipping, and other departments regarding shipping requirements and priorities.
• Provide direction and leadership to employees involved in shipping and warehouse activities as assigned.
• Motivate and support team members to meet productivity, quality, and shipping expectations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Skills:• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient with computers and basic computer applications.
• Previous experience with inventory control management systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and work effectively with others.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly driven and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work according to a schedule and meet established ship dates.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse and shipping environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity standards.Education / Experience:• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of shipping experience preferred.
• Previous experience with inventory control management systems preferred.
• Previous crating and packaging experience preferred.
• Forklift operation experience preferred.Requirements:• Ability to stand for extended periods of time while performing assigned duties.
• Ability to crouch, crawl, stoop, bend, and work in various physical positions when required.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete required forklift certification and operate a forklift in accordance with company safety procedures.
