Clinical Academic Research Position in Family Medicine
Position Profile: The Department of Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is inviting applications for one full-time clinical academic research position. The successful candidate will be expected to have a research program in family medicine and will be appointed to the Department of Family Medicine.
Academic and Clinical Expectations: The successful candidate will conduct family medicine research approximately 50% of their time. The balance of the role will be divided between clinical work as well as education (undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate) and administrative duties as determined by the Department of Family Medicine and aligned with the candidate's clinical and research interests. Additional leadership opportunities in research and graduate studies may be available, based on the interest and experience of the successful candidate. Clinical work will be within family medicine, either a comprehensive or focused practice, and will be negotiated and determined based on the clinical experience and training of the successful candidate. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: clinical income, alternative funding plan, and/or salary support.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent with certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. A relevant Master’s or PhD degree is preferred. Clinical practice experience, as well as experience and interest in research, is essential. The successful candidate will be a Clinician Researcher and hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.
Location: This position will be located in the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine within the Department of Family Medicine.
