About the School
The School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota was established in 1909, and is distinct in being the first continuing nursing program on a university campus. We offer pre licensure baccalaureate (Twin Cities and Rochester campuses) and masters programs and doctoral (PhD and DNP) education. Based on expertise and interest, faculty will join one of three established areas of scholarship and teaching: (1) Adult and Gerontological Health, (2) Child and Family Health, or (3) Population Health and Systems.
The School of Nursing puts equitable health for all people, populations, and the planet at the center of every scholarly effort. These research efforts are guided by six values: innovation and bold ideas, community engagement, social justice and human dignity, patient-centered care, data-driven solutions, and interprofessional collaboration. These values power six complementary research approaches: health and wellness promotion, a strong nursing workforce, lifespan health, AI/machine-learning and informatics, population/global-planetary health, and a just healthcare system. Aligned in this way, our research aims to translate discovery into action that transforms practice, policy, and outcomes.
These initiatives are supported by nationally recognized centers—the Center for Adolescent Nursing, the Center for Aging Science & Care Innovation, the Center for Child & Family Health Promotion Research, the Center for Flourishing Health Care Communities, the Center for Indigenous People, Health, and Nursing of North America, the Center for Nursing Informatics, the Center for Planetary Health and Environmental Justice, and the Katharine J. Densford International Center for Nursing Leadership—which provide shared infrastructure for engagement with community partners, health systems, and industry collaborators. Grounded in a commitment to planetary health and guided by the University’s principles of anti-racism, equity, and inclusion, the School recruits, mentors, and retains a diverse faculty whose varied perspectives drive collaborative discovery and nurse-led innovation.
We are seeking applicants for both our Rochester and Twin Cities locations.
