The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, along with the Seattle Children’s Research Institute Center for Child Health, Behavior & Development, invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (without tenure by reason of funding), on the faculty-scientist track. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and academic rank. Associate Professor and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date: Spring or Summer 2026.

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to candidates who have an established, funded research program focused on implementation science in pediatric/family health. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute expertise in dissemination and implementation frameworks, and develop expertise in at least one of the following areas: practice redesign, shared decision-making, digital health, human centered design, community engagement, pragmatic research methods, practice-based research, primary care delivery, and/or rapid evidence-to-care-change cycles. The candidate is expected to sustain a funded research program at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the department’s teaching and mentoring mission, and engage in individual and programmatic initiatives with research mentorship of trainees.

This position provides an opportunity to work at the Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD) at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Applicants will have a faculty appointment at the University of Washington and will join a group of highly collaborative scientists at CHBD studying a range of interdisciplinary topic areas such as chronic condition management, environmental health, hospital and post-acute care, mental and behavioral health, and pain management, with expertise in community-engaged methods, digital health, behavioral science, health services research, and implementation science.

SCRI is ranked 4th in NIH pediatric research funding and provides a rich, vibrant, and collaborative environment. SCRI has excellent facilities that foster close relationships between clinical, translational, and basic science researchers. In 2024, SCRI had more than $215 million in extramural research awards (with about $30 million awarded to CHBD). With a workforce greater than 2,400, the research institute fosters a cutting-edge academic environment, supporting multidisciplinary research, collaboration, and professional development. SCRI is organized into interdisciplinary research centers and has many resources for investigators including a statistical and analytic core, community engagement core, research computing core, pilot funding, and clinical and behavioral laboratory space to conduct study visits.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

This position could, although is not required to and only if available, provide clinical service and consultation within pediatric primary care affiliated with the University of Washington and/or Seattle Children’s. This clinical service may include direct patient care in faculty practice as well as precepting residents.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professor: $13,750 - $21,667 per month ($165,000 - $260,004 annually) Professor: $16,667 - $25,000 per month ($200,004 - $300,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The Division of Hospital Medicine, at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital, is seeking a full time hospitalist at the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor level. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Anticipated start date is autumn/winter 2025-2026.

Clinical appointments align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The successful candidate will have duties at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, School of Medicine. Our career hospitalists have diverse backgrounds and interests, and participate in a variety of quality improvement, patient safety, educational, and faculty development initiatives.

Our hospitalists attend on the General Medicine resident service for 7-day rotations. We provide direct supervision and bedside/didactic teaching of rotating residents and medical students. We also provide 24/7 in-house coverage for the General Medicine non-resident service which also includes daytime supervision and teaching of rotating medical students and advanced practice providers.

The base salary range for this position will be: Clinical Assistant Professors $12,331 - $18,497 per month ($147,982 - $221,972 annually), Clinical Associate Professors $14,038 - $21,057 per month ($168,462 - $252,694 annually), Clinical Professors $16,913 - $25,369 per month ($202,959 - $304,439 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. In addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Qualifications

An MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree; an MD/DO combined (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.

US Board certification or US Board eligibility in Hospital Pediatrics.

Completion of a pediatric residency.

Must be currently licensed as a physician or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
