Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor
Prairie View A&M University is seeking candidates for the full-time faculty position of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing. The successful candidate will have strong clinical knowledge and expertise within the primary specialty and the ability to teach across the curriculum. Primary duties include administration of instruction in didactic and clinical applications, assisting, advising, and mentoring students, and active participation in CON committees. The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching across specialty areas including adult health, community/population health, nursing administration, and education.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates command of content in an area of specialization.
- Develops classroom and clinical learning activities that facilitate learning.
- Uses innovative teaching methodologies and learning activities that promote excellence in teaching.
- Coordinates orientation and teaching across the curriculum.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates assigned course offerings.
- Assists in the development, monitoring, maintenance, and reporting of curriculum content for various nursing programs in accordance with national standards.
- Serves as an academic advisor and scholarship mentor.
- Assumes leadership roles in academic programs and committees, including serving on the CON Faculty Organization and participating in committees.
- Submits an annual faculty performance portfolio.
- Articulates a defined program of scholarship and engages in activities that advance nursing knowledge.
- Disseminates scholarly work and participates in professional organizations.
Required Education and Experience
- Master's degree in nursing in an area of specialization from an accredited institution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to working with diverse students and colleagues.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Current unencumbered licensure or eligibility as a registered nurse in Texas.
- Appropriate national certification in specialty area if an advanced practice nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent doctorate.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in nursing education and practice.
- Experience in classroom or clinical nursing education.
- Demonstrated performance in nursing scholarship.
- Experience in providing didactic education content across curriculum.
