Examples of Duties
- To provide dental care for patients within the Dental Hygiene clinic, as well as the Dental Sealant Grant Program.
- To provide professional oversight for the Dental Hygiene Clinic and/or the Dental Sealant Grant Program.
- To function as a clinical dentist capable of bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, as well as driving to distant sites to provide dental services.
- To supervise undergraduate dental hygiene students in clinical settings.
- To support the SIU mission of community engagement through community outreach in dental education and dental care. To be instructor of record for course(s) in a dental hygiene curriculum.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Must be licensed as a dentist in Illinois and be a graduate of an accredited dental school. Must have experience performing extractions, root canals, simple crowns, & denture cases. Must possess an Illinois controlled substance license, Illinois dental license, and CPR certificate. A TB test will be required prior to beginning employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of appropriate dental experience. Previous experience in a teaching environment. Knowledge of the tasks associated with dental hygiene program accreditation.
Required Documents: Please submit a letter of application, CV/Resume, current License to practice dentistry issued by the IDFPR; Current DEA registration, schedules II-V; current license from the state of Illinois for Dental Controlled Substances issued by IDFPR; current Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS/CPR and AED) card in accordance with American Heart Association standards, and three references.
