Clinical Assistant Professor - Occupational Therapy

Job Description

D’Youville University Occupational Therapy (OT) program seeks a 9-month clinical track faculty, at the rank of clinical assistant professor. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching 24 credit hours across the OT curriculum. The OT program delivers coursework year-round. Availability may be required in the summer session with compensated teaching assignments based on program needs. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be responsible for student advisement, capstone mentorship, curricular and program assessment, service, professional development, and scholarship.

Responsibilities:

Teaching
  • Across the graduate curriculum; preference will be given to applicants with professional experience in adult and geriatric populations
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative course environment
  • Participate in curriculum design, content delivery and program evaluation
  • Develop and implement course assignments and deliver learning activities that permits measurement of course student learning outcomes
  • Assist with remediation of students
  • Offer office hours
  • Work synergistically with student support programs at the university
Scholarship and Professional Activity
  • Participation in continuing education, presentations, contributions to publications and leadership in professional organizations or other demonstration of scholarly work and expertise in teaching assignments
  • Document expertise in area of teaching responsibility and content delivery method
  • Engage in professional development and complete a faculty development plan annually
Service
  • Participate on program committees such as accreditation, curriculum, student progress, and/or admissions
  • Serve on Faculty Senate or other university level committees (i.e., curriculum, policies), school-wide task forces, standing committees and/or work groups
  • Participate in program and university service-learning initiatives
  • Participate in professional organizations, community outreach efforts and civic service groups
  • Participate in recruitment events and other events of the program
  • Membership and active participation in all program committees and other ad hoc committees, task force, workgroups as necessary
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing academic counseling of students as needed;
  • designing, implementing coordinating, and evaluating curriculum as needed;
  • evaluating the program;
  • selecting applicants for admission to the program;
  • developing, reviewing, and revising program goals and outcomes;
  • identifying new fieldwork sites and conducting fieldwork visits,
  • mentoring capstone project students.

Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a doctoral degree from a USDE-recognized institution and possess documented expertise in teaching areas. The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program and be licensed to practice, or eligible for licensure, in New York State. Three years of professional experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist is required. Clinical experience in physical disabilities, assessment in adult and geriatric populations, and neuroanatomy is preferred.

Qualified candidates must show evidence of good moral character, strong work ethic, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with inter-professional team members. Performance will be evaluated in these domains: teaching, service, scholarship, and professional development.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annually

The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate. Faculty rank will be commensurate with education and qualifications.
