Clinical Assistant Professor of Fashion Design
Position Description and Essential Functions
This position includes essential functions of teaching and mentoring students in fashion design, developing new courses based on individual strengths, research and service according to departmental needs. Areas of emphasis may include: fashion design, collection development, construction, pattern drafting, draping and/or fashion illustration.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching with the ability to develop and instruct a variety of in-person and online course offerings. The successful candidate will teach and mentor undergraduate students based on department needs. Additional responsibilities include service to ASU FIDM, Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts, and ASU.
Required Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in fashion or related discipline.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fashion design in at least two of the following areas: fashion design, collection development, construction, pattern drafting, draping and/or fashion illustration.
Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of successful teaching and mentorship in fashion design for undergraduate beginning, intermediate, and/or advanced courses.
- Evidence of creative achievement in fashion design (2D + 3D).
- Evidence of relevant industry-level design experience.
- Familiarity with new directions in the fashion industry.
- 5 or more years of experience in the fashion industry.
