Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Clinical Associate Professor of Practice in the Division of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry (Ref: 534808), to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. Fractional appointment may be considered for the suitable candidate.
The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research excellence and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s global rankings among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for ten out of the past twelve years (2015-2026). The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange activities as well as in oral health research and promotions in international, regional and local communities.
Applicants should possess:
- A dental or medical (bachelor’s) degree or equivalent and a clinical specialist status or equivalent in Implant Dentistry or Periodontology. They should be dental or medical practitioners whose clinical expertise enjoys regional acclaim. Evidence may include but is not limited to the following:
- regional clinical publications;
- invited speaker at regional conferences;
- extensive clinical or didactical teaching experience;
- delivery of educational seminars, webinars and/or Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs);
- continuing dental education programmes delivered to regional audiences;
- regional recognition of clinical excellence in a clinical specialty, as demonstrated by awards conferred by regional academic or professional societies; and
- active involvement in the work of professional or governmental bodies.
- Proven ability for quality research, publications in international journals, evidence of local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; and
- Demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education and clinical practice.
Preference will be given to those with demonstrated administrative contributions and management experience in universities or healthcare settings.
The appointee shall play a strategic role in growing the clinical services. He/she shall also focus on the education of dental students, with support to academic research and knowledge exchange activities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
