Clinical Coordinator: Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Position Summary:
This position is a 10-month staff appointment at the main campus of Utica University within the Nursing Department, supporting all pre-licensure nursing programs. While the full complement of duties is determined in consultation with the Undergraduate Program Director, Chair of the Nursing Department, and the Dean of Health Professions and Education, this position is based primarily on the clinical needs of the undergraduate nursing program students and clinical partners, and on maintaining compliance with accreditation expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit and secure clinical instructors
- Maintain adjunct and FT Faculty compliance for clinical
- Develop clinical schedules each semester, and collaborate with HR regarding clinical instructor needs.
- Establish new relationships and maintain current relationships with healthcare partners
- Serve as the primary healthcare partner contact for HCP and clinical unit placements
- Visit clinical sites to evaluate instructors/sites. Provide evaluations to the Director of Academic Operations at the end of each semester or as needed.
- Evaluate the quality of the clinical site and satisfaction/appropriateness of the site with the Director of Academic Operations and the Program Director each semester or as needed.
- Attend clinical consortium meetings to secure spots and regular meetings with the healthcare partner
- Maintain student compliance
- Manage student orientation to clinical sites (computer training/forms specific to hospital/units)
- Execute faculty orientation to clinical sites if needed
- Assist with the training of clinical faculty as needed
- Collaborate with the Director of Academic Operations regarding student clinical issues and health compliance issues
- Work with the Program Director and Director of academic operations to maintain consistency with clinical paperwork and policies in clinical between all prelicensure programs and sites.
- Ensure all clinical activities are congruent with the College's curriculum and meet regulatory and accreditation standards
- Ensure that the College's affiliation agreements are in place
- Plan and facilitate professional development activities in collaboration with the program director and DAOs, to enhance the teaching/learning of clinical faculty.
- In collaboration with the partner, track quality metrics, set and maintain established benchmarks, initiate and deploy agreed-upon quality improvement strategy if/when indicated
- In collaboration with education partner leaders and faculty, utilize shared data to identify areas for continuous improvement and participate in the development of new processes
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- A master's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program is required.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in New York, or eligibility for New York State RN registration required.
- Minimum of 2 years of Acute care clinical experience.
- Additional graduate coursework or certification in Nursing Education is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrate critical thinking, health assessment, management of patients in various care settings, interprofessional practice, innovative healthcare initiatives, and conflict resolution.
- Must possess well-developed writing and verbal skills. Must have knowledge, skills, and experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in using internet tools, Microsoft Office applications, Google Applications, learning management systems, and conferencing meeting technology.
