Part-time (60% FTE), permanent position

Base salary will range from $102,565 - $111,686 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)

Based at our St Lucia campus

About This Opportunity

Our School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is inviting applications for a Clinical Educator in Physiotherapy to support the clinical education and development of our final year physiotherapy students on a part-time, continuing basis.

We are seeking an experienced physiotherapist with strong neurological skills and knowledge who can deliver neurological and gerontology services in our Neurological, Ageing and Balance (NAB) Clinic. Our ideal candidate will be keen to apply their clinical expertise to a diverse population of clientele, whilst educating the next generation of physiotherapy professionals.

Due to clinic operational needs, we are looking for someone who is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (although this may be flexible for the successful applicant).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise and support individual and group student clinical practice in the Neurological Ageing and Balance (NAB) clinic, including interprofessional learning.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student clinical competence using profession-specific tools.
  • Develop and deliver effective clinical education models, supervision processes, and student-led professional development activities.
  • Support academic programs through practical teaching, assessment marking, and curriculum development.
  • Deliver and oversee evidence-based neurological and gerontological physiotherapy services, ensuring quality, continuity of care, and safe clinical practice.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership, guidance, and oversight of operational and clinical procedures in line with School and Clinic policies.
  • Contribute to research in clinical education, clinical practice, or higher education.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, professional bodies, and the wider community.
  • Undertake administrative and governance activities, including compliance documentation, student placement coordination, and participation in School committees and decision-making processes.

About You

  • A degree in Physiotherapy with relevant clinical experience (four years’ experience is desirable).
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to deliver evidence based clinical practice in the areas of neurological physiotherapy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical education issues and work integrated learning.
  • Demonstrated abilities as an effective educator and communicator in the area of physiotherapy clinical education such as student supervision, educational evaluation, training and assessment marking.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative methods of instruction in clinical settings to enhance clinical skills and knowledge development.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the clinical discipline at an interprofessional, university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and with high levels of initiative and autonomy.
  • High level inter-personal and oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritise tasks, multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in vestibular physiotherapy and the management of people with Parkinson's Disease is desirable.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which will include verification of the right to work in Australia, qualifications, AHPRA registration, First Aid/CPR certification, mandatory immunisations, driver’s licence and eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
