The Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact (HEI), Faculty of Health Sciences, at McMaster University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position for a three-year (renewable) in the Special category. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine. This position is predominantly a research-oriented position. We are seeking an individual with an established track record in evidence-based practice in the broad field of internal medicine and in developing and applying cutting edge methodology to improve the development and uptake of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

The successful applicant will be involved in a combination of clinical, research, and educational activities; they are expected to work in collaboration with any of the research groups in HEI, and/or to eventually develop their own independent research group as they will see fit. Clinical activities will include in-patient and out-patient clinics, inclusive of clinical teaching opportunities. Research activities, through participation on grants and publications, will span from methodology to clinical research, with special focus in internal medicine. Educational activities will include teaching and supervision of students in HEI graduate programs, and medical students and residents in the McMaster undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs.

Applicants must have an MD and specialty training in Internal Medicine. Applicants must have obtained a HRM PhD or equivalent degree from another academic institution, and must have proven experience in health research methodology; experience in clinical research may be an asset.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed to practice (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
