The Clinical Instructor position reports to the Director of Clinical Programs providing clinical supervision to graduate students in The Robbins Center and teaching clinically-focused courses for the department's accredited Master's program in Speech-Language Pathology. This role requires exceptional clinical teaching skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate with a diverse population of the college community.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Supervise graduate students as they lead speech and language therapy and evaluation sessions in programs associated with the Robbins Speech Language and Hearing Center.
  • Meet individually or in small groups with students to provide feedback and discuss their development of clinical skills, performance, provide suggestions, and identify potential areas of concern.
  • Coordinate and oversee client care.
  • Teach up to five (5) clinically focused courses per year (fall, spring, and summer) in the department's accredited Master's program in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline, ASHA Certification, and professional licensure to practice in MA.
  • Review treatment plans, SOAP notes, evidence-based practice papers, summary reports and any other clinical related documentation written by graduate students.
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach to attain new clients in the Robbins Center Group Programs.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Collaborate with other professionals inside and outside the College as appropriate.
  • Complete administrative work and maintain records as required.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to other staff members as required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) required
  • 5-7 years of clinical experience in the SLP field required, including supervisory experience of students in a clinical or higher educational setting required
  • Current ASHA certification and professional license to practice SLP in MA required
  • Knowledge of an additional language than English is highly preferred
  • Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA training preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in a variety of learning management, clinical documentation, and file-sharing platforms, and the ability to learn new software easily.
  • Expert knowledge of the Speech-Language Pathology field, including expertise in clinical writing, editing, and teaching.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow through on tasks and requests.
  • Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

This position is generally sedentary, movement throughout the area is required from time to time. The ability to have continuous oral and written communication with students, co-workers, and supervisors is essential. Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding and read fine print will be expected.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels

Compensation: $72,500.00 - $88,900.00 annually, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: S-23-09E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Division: Division of Academic Affairs

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
