Clinical Instructor – Medical Assistant Program (Part-Time)
Position Summary
The Clinical Instructor supports the Medical Assistant Program through assistance with laboratory instruction & skills assessment, simulation activities, and clinical practicum coordination. This position works collaboratively with faculty, students, clinical partners, and the Simulation Center to ensure students receive high-quality hands-on training and experiential learning opportunities aligned with industry standards.
This is a part-time position employed through EduStaff for up to 27 hours per week.
Essential Functions
- Assist primary instructors during Medical Assistant clinical laboratories and skills instruction.
- Prepare, organize, and clean laboratory and simulation spaces before and after instructional activities.
- Support and facilitate medical simulations within the Simulation Center, including acting as simulated patients when appropriate.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory and simulation supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate ordering and restocking of supplies to ensure instructional readiness.
- Assist with scheduling and preparation of laboratory and simulation activities.
- Coordinate and oversee the Clinical Practicum/Externship process, including: securing and maintaining clinical placement sites; communicating with clinical partners and students; tracking required documentation, clearances, and student progress; monitoring student performance and completion requirements.
- Maintain accurate records related to labs, simulations, and clinical practicum experiences.
- Support compliance with accreditation standards, safety protocols, and college policies.
- Participate in program meetings, department initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide student support and guidance in clinical and simulation environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Medical Assisting or closely related healthcare field.
- Current CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) credential.
- Minimum of three (3) years full-time equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and healthcare documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching, training, precepting, or simulation experience.
- Experience coordinating clinical placements or externships.
- Familiarity with simulation-based education and healthcare technology.
- Experience working in higher education or workforce development environments.
Work Environment
This position requires work in classroom, laboratory, clinical, and simulation settings. Duties may involve standing for extended periods, lifting instructional supplies/equipment, and demonstrating or assisting with clinical procedures.
