Clinical Instructor, Registered Nursing
Position Summary
Johnson County Community College is seeking a part-time clinical instructor to teach in the area of Med/Surg, in the acute care hospital setting, starting in the fall 2026 term. The clinical instructor will work with a group of 3rd semester ADN students at a clinical agency setting one (1) day a week. This individual may be asked to be available for on campus activities as needed, which may fall on a day other than their assigned clinical day.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a BSN and requisite experience will be considered.
- Active single-state RN licenses in both Kansas and Missouri, or an active Multi-state RN license.
- Current registered nursing experience in the area being taught.
- A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience within the last five years.
- Ability to multitask; process multiple sources of information quickly.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work closely with students, collaborating with agency nurses and staff, to ensure a quality, hands-on learning experience in either an acute care, inpatient medical/surgical or maternal-child/pediatric setting.
- This role requires supervision of students with the ability to provide constructive feedback documented on formative and summative evaluation tools, and have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written formats.
- This role also requires comfort and competency with utilizing a computer or other electronic device to access the nursing course(s) in the learning management system, and document in the online evaluation tools utilized in the program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior clinical teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory.
- One (1) to three (3) years relevant teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education.
