Your Role on the Team
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for oversight of an assigned clinical group (approximately 6-12 students) and various activities related to the education of nursing students. This position requires the clinical instructor to be responsible for coordinating clinical components of their assigned clinical group. In addition, the faculty member must remain current in clinical practice per BRN guidelines and complete sufficient continuing education requirements to maintain currency in course content. All health requirements and appropriate certifications must be kept up-to-date with the Clinical Support Unit.

Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)
- Oversee the following in conjunction with the Faculty of Record (FOR):
- Grading Assignments - including providing appropriate and timely feedback
- Utilization of Grading Rubrics - provided by FOR
- Learning activities
- Course schedule
- Simulation activities (See Simulation Roles & Responsibilities)
- Student Evaluations
- Facility/Agency Evaluations Act as primary contact for assigned students related to scheduling, assignments, and progress of students, including any student remediation planning, implementation, and follow up as appropriate for course - in conjunction with faculty of record 80%
- Participate in orientation/bootcamp/lab sessions for students - in conjunction with faculty of record and other Clinical Instructors 10%
- Participate in clinical faculty orientation - to course, assignments, expectations, agency, evaluation methods 10%
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and skills / competency learning and leadership development.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
- Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline
- Strong skills in written and verbal communications to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical information in a clear, concise manner.
- Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues.
- Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 year of nursing practice in one or more of the following clinical areas within the last five years: Medical-Surgical, Geriatric, Obstetric, Pediatric, Psychiatric/Mental Health Required
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Certificate within area of specialty preferred.
