Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The Clinical Nurse IV, Service Line Coordinator, provides advanced clinical expertise and operational leadership for assigned service line(s) in the perioperative setting. This role serves as the primary clinical resource for complex procedures, coordinates resources and case readiness, drives quality and safety outcomes, leads education and competency assessment, and partners with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and sterile processing to ensure reliable, efficient, and patient centered care. The CN IV functions as a subject matter expert, preceptor/mentor, and change agent.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and surgeon collaboration skills; able to influence without formal authority.
- Proficiency in electronic EHR, preference card management, and implant documentation
- Prior service-line lead, charge, or preceptor experience.
- Prior experience with service coordination of supply chain
- Must possess a minimum of five years of recent OR RN experience with at least three years in the service line specialty
- Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills by a minimum of four points in leadership roles/responsibilities within the last three years, which may be obtained through the following: Leadership of a project team with effective project outcome and implementation; Advanced degree (MSN) with a focus in leadership; Relief PCC; Qualified Preceptor; Leadership of a Practice Council or in a professional organization; House Supervisor; Membership in a professional development program, Quality Councils and/or PI Teams; Skin Prevalence Nurse; Teaching a class/skills lab or acting as a Clinical instructor; and/or success as an EPIC Superuser. - Expert knowledge of specialty service line surgical workflows
- Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
- Demonstrated competency in complex clinical procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead PI/Lean projects, interpret quality dashboards, and drive measurable improvements.
- Competence with sterile processing interfaces, instrument nomenclature, tray assembly standards, and loaner workflows
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Service line leadership in an academic or high-volume meidcal or surgical center.
- Robotics and laser safety credentials if applicable.
- Preceptor certification or educator experience.
- Experience with ECMO, VAD, transplant program if applicable
- Data skills (Excel/Power BI), PI methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt).
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
- ACLS (at time of hire)
