"Clinical Nursing Lab Instructor(s) - Cape Cod Community College"

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide clinical instruction to freshman and sophomore level students in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, Day Option on Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Evening/Weekend Option on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Instructional areas include fundamentals (subacute), pediatrics, maternity, medical-surgical nursing, community, and psych.  The Nursing Clinical Instructor(s) play a vital role in educating and training nursing students in clinical settings. This position is responsible for providing guidance, support, and evaluation during clinical rotations, ensuring that students develop the necessary skills and competencies required for their nursing practice.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Instruct and oversee students in skill-based, low-fidelity, and high-fidelity lab settings.
2. Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, preparing students to apply nursing skills in diverse healthcare environments.
3. Teach and demonstrate nursing procedures and techniques within the lab, ensuring students understand practical applications.
4. Supervise and assess students' performance in lab activities, ensuring competency in clinical skills.
5. Mentor and guide students, providing clinical insights and fostering the development of practical nursing abilities.
6. Offer constructive feedback to students, assessing their competencies and progress in the lab setting.
7. Create and maintain a supportive and positive learning environment conducive to skill development.
8. Assess student learning through hands-on evaluation of nursing skills in the lab.
9. Attend faculty team meetings to collaborate and discuss programmatic needs and improvements.
10. Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the overall educational experience and foster collaboration.
11. Engage in program evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance nursing education.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License.
2. Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
3. Must possess one of the following:
   1. Master's degree in nursing OR
   2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing with letter of intent to complete one of the following:
      • Certification in Nursing Education/Clinical (CNEcl) within 3 years of hire.
      • Master's degree within 5 years of hire.
4. Expertise and clinical experience in the area of application, including but not limited to fundamentals (subacute), pediatrics, maternity, community, psych, and medical-surgical nursing.
5. Ability to create an environment conducive to learning.
6. Ability to assess and evaluate student performance effectively.
7. Proficient in using educational technology and teaching tools.
8. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience preferred.
2. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION:        $65.17 per hour, up to 18 hours per week. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
