We are looking for an exceptional applicant to join our research team in the fast-paced pediatric emergency medicine department. This is the entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. This position includes screening and recruiting patients and families in research studies to improve patient care and outcomes. The position will provide coordination, regulatory and administrative support for multiple clinical research projects. You will interact with patients, families, physicians and nurses. This position will also provide coordination for clinical research projects such as registries, retrospective data reviews, long-term follow-up, and other non-interventional studies. Our research coordinator program is well established, and considered an integral part of the health care team in the pediatric ED with opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
You will join a research team and will collaborate with clinical care teams, investigators, data coordinating center teams, patients and families. As a member of the team, you will provide updates on progress of research, subject-related challenges, recruitment strategies, and specific policies and procedures. You will develop and gain competence in the following areas:
- Human subjects enrollment and pediatric specific policies
- Scientific Concepts and Research Design
- Ethical Participant Safety Considerations
- Investigational Products Development and Regulation
- Clinical Study Operations (GCPs)
- Study and Site Management
- Regulatory Management (IRBs)
- Data Management and Informatics
- Leadership and Professionalism
- Communication and Teamwork
Supervision Received:
This position receives direct supervision from the CRC lead, investigators, and reports directly to a unit administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
None
- High school diploma or GED is necessary, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Effective organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional ability in handling multiple tasks.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in health science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable. An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.
Work Schedule and Location:
University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University Hospital, Adult Emergency Medicine and Psychiatric Emergency Services.
This is a 40-hour-per-week position shift-based position and will require some night and weekend shifts with a minimum of one weekend shift per month, and may require on-call coverage.
