Clinical Research Assistant - Cancer Control
This position is primarily remote. New employees are required to attend in-person training sessions during onboarding. Following training, employees will be expected to attend periodic in-person all-staff meetings
Position Summary
The Clinical Research Assistant will provide support to the Recruitment, Intervention and Survey Shared Resource (RISSR), a part of the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Assist investigators and team members with retrospective research projects by identifying and collecting study-specific data elements
- Review electronic medical records for patient history, treatment, encounters, with possible qualitative coding
- Transcribe audio recordings of qualitative study data
- Assist with REDCap database development, testing and data entry
- Review medical records and assist with data extraction, entry, and submission
- Prepare datasets, data dictionaries, reports and supporting documentation for review
- Assist with data quality control
- Request medical records, pathology slides and tissue, and images
- Participate in ongoing training related to clinical research regulations, data abstraction methodologies, and institutional data systems
- Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and abstraction guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by project leader or management
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences, psychology, human ecology or other medical field or an equivalent combination of education & experience required. Experience with human subjects training in a clinical research capacity or setting desired. Experience in a clinical and/or research setting working with patients desired. Computer skills required with experience using Microsoft Office Software applications desired. Must be able to effectively communicate, both face-to-face and in writing, with clinical staff, research participants, and outside collaborators.
