Senior Clinical Research Assistant will be on site working at Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, OH. SCRA participates in data collection, maintenance and reporting and patient interfacing activities for a clinical research studies part of a biomedical and behavioral health science research laboratory investigating suicide prevention and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. Dependent upon primary area of assignment performs duties in one of the following areas. Some positions may perform a combination of these duties.
Patient interfacing activities
:
Participates in coordinating and performing clinical research activities for assigned studies, including therapeutic studies, in accordance with approved protocols; assists with assessing patient records to identify patients who are eligible to participate in specified clinical research protocols; recruits, interviews and enrolls patients; obtains informed consent and ensures consent process is administered in compliance to regulatory and sponsor requirements; educates patients and families of purpose, goals, and processes of clinical study; coordinates scheduling and follow-through of patient care appointments, procedures, and other diagnostic testing in accordance with study protocol; participates in the collection, processing and evaluation of biological samples; administers, evaluates and calculates standardized scoring of diagnostic, psychological or behavioral testing or questionnaires; assists with training and onboarding new Clinical Research Assistants 2 and 3 as a preceptor.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
For Patient Interfacing focused positions:
At least one year of experience that included at least 6 months patient interfacing experience in a clinical support capacity and at least 6 months experience in a clinical research capacity required; proficient computer skills required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

- 70% Participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects, studies and activities in research investigating suicide prevention and PTSD; participates in the execution of ongoing research projects; participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; collects, analyzes and interprets research data; assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization; assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff.
- 20% Assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research..
- 10% Provides updates to PI on progress of research; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned
