Job Description Summary

Clinical Research Coordinator A (CRC A)- The primary role of the CRC A is the organization, coordination and implementation of a number of community outreach and clinical research studies for the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Resuscitation Science (CRS). CRS is dedicated to clinical research and training surrounding cardiac arrest and resuscitation care with the goal of improving survival from sudden cardiac arrest. The CRC A will work closely with the PI and Director of Clinical Research for CRS to identify & assist with developing clinical research programs that support the CRS mission and to oversee community outreach programs targeted at improving bystander CPR rates and survival. The position is responsible for overseeing all tasks necessary to ensure that studies are conducted safely and according to protocol; coordinating the IRB process; implementing projects; working closely with leadership on grants submissions; ensuring that studies stay on target and participation in research meetings. The CRC A is responsible for coordinating the study volunteers participating on various projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the PI and supervisor to identify clinical research and community outreach programs that support the CRS mission. Collaborate with PI and supervisor to fine tune final project vision. Assist leadership as needed with grant proposal preparation and submission including research writing, liaison between contributors and budget development.
  • Manage the Penn CRC Cardiac Arrest Biobanking Project. This position involves recruiting subjects, collecting research data, collecting/storing patient samples, and managing the clinical research database; oversee volunteers & assistants & data collection. Train staff & faculty on protocols.
  • Manage the Penn RECOVER program research database. This position involves enrolling patients, attending clinical research meetings, and managing the RECOVER clinical research database.
  • Will assist with coordinating IRB documents. Act as a resource to PI and CRS regarding IRB process and protocols. Responsible for document management, ensure protocol binders are up-to-date.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 2+ years related to clinical research experience preferred (i.e., recruiting and enrolling human subjects); strong organizational skills; comfort with new technologies and study devices preferred; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Position is contingent upon continued funding.
