CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR I
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.
General Responsibilities
- To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
- To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
- To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Collects and records preliminary data for clinical research programs.
- Recruits and performs follow-up visits and phone calls with research participants as protocols outline.
- Schedules visits according to research protocols.
- Assists in the coordination of lab and fieldwork.
- Prepares for study monitoring visits.
- Assists with correcting findings, the completion of Case Report Forms (CRF) according to protocol, and the development of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data quality assurance.
- Performs general clerical duties (faxing, scanning, routing messages, coordinating the purchase of Supplies/materials).
- May perform a variety of medical procedures under supervision. May assist in compiling, editing, and proofreading written reports for both internal and external administrative offices.
- Uses Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems necessary for operations under supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range
$43,890 - $57,055
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferences
- Ability to follow established regulations, procedures, and protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to gather data and document procedures, to plan work, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Willingness and desire to function as a clinical research coordinator and willing to gain knowledge of UAB specific portals such as REDCap, Oncore, and Greenphire.
- Willingness to learn clinical skills such as phlebotomy, obtaining vital signs, and Pulmonary Function Testing is desirable.
- Candidate must be comfortable using a variety of electronic platforms.
- Possess general computer skills.
- Have experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must have great communication skills and the ability to engage in group meetings and discussions.
- Must be able to actively work closely with others and under the leadership of Investigators and senior research coordinators in a variety of settings, and have a strong work ethic.
