Clinical Research Coordinator

Job Overview

The Clinical Research Coordinator supports the research efforts of Dr. Virginia Steen in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology in the School of Medicine at Georgetown University. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Steen's clinical research manager, and Dr. Steen and will act as a liaison between clinical study sponsors, monitors, regulatory affairs, hospital staff and patients on behalf of Dr. Steen. The candidate should work independently to carry out all administrative and clinical needs for Dr. Steen, including organization of new study initiations, subject recruitment, subject testing/follow-up, and data entry. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Meet with industry sponsors, and monitors
  • Submit study protocol for IRB and contract approval.
  • Recruit patients, consent patients into trials, monitor safety of patients in trial
  • Interact with CRU, Pharmacy, Radiology, Pulmonary Function lab and other areas of the hospital that are required for conducting trials
  • Timely entering of data in clinical trial databases and respond timely to queries in the different databases.

Work Interactions

This position will report to Dr Steen's clinical research manager, Maia Cecire, and to the principal investigator, Virginia Steen, and will fall under the Division of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy. The candidate will be required to participate many activities related to clinical trials and will oversee multiple studies. The candidate will have to work closely with various sponsor monitors and research associates to ensure proper data collection/compliance with regulations. Additionally, the candidate will interact with Rheumatology faculty and staff, Department of Medicine, CRU and other administrative staff (i.e., radiology technicians, pulmonary technicians).

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 0-2 years of related experience (research/medical/clinical)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with investigators and patients
  • Ability to support interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal clinical and resource outcomes
  • Self-directed with attention to detail
  • Computer proficiency

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as On-Campus.

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
