Clinical Research Fellow in Colorectal Cancer Pathway Optimisation

The Opportunity:

Faecal immunochemical testing (FIT) is being sent to all symptomatic referrals nationally as part of lower gastrointestinal symptoms diagnostic pathways for colorectal cancer detection. This project aims to explore the capacity and caseload demand on colonoscopy services by modelling different thresholds, with the ultimate aim of incorporating patient-specific threshold levels dependent on overall prediction of significant pathology. Varying qFIT thresholds and multiple FIT testing will be assessed using risk models developed to include demographics, symptoms, screening history, and FIT values.

This post is fixed-term (for 1 year) and full-time (40 hours per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A medical degree and interest in early detection in colorectal cancer.
  • Previous evidence of successful project completion, in particular first author publications.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
