Clinical Research Fellow in Neurovascular Disease

We are looking for a Clinical Research Fellow in Neurovascular Disease to join the Centre for the Prevention of Stroke and Dementia Team at NDCN. The role will involve the gathering and analysis of data on different aetiological subtypes of TIA and stroke study subjects as part of the Oxford Vascular Study (OxVasc), a population-based cohort study of all acute vascular events in all arterial territories.

The OxVasc study provides a TIA/stroke clinical service for eight of the GP practices in Oxfordshire and the post holder will be responsible for triaging patient referrals, assessing, managing and treating patients in out-patient clinics (arranging and interpreting investigations, including MRI, Doppler, cardiac investigations), prescribing medications and collecting blood samples. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will work closely with research nurses, laboratory scientists and the wider department to ensure the smooth running of the study.

The opportunity to see out-patient referrals to the regional NHS neurology service on a rotational basis is available to applicants with recent general neurology experience.

The successful candidate will hold a medical degree and full GMC registration, and MBBS or equivalent. They will also have evidence of willingness to continually update knowledge in this specialist area and have previous experience in neurology and/or the diagnosis and treatment of TIA and stroke. It would be desirable if they held MRCP and had published papers in scientific/medical journals.
