Job Summary:

This position is in a research program focused on the early developmental pathways to psychiatric disorders. We hope, by understanding brain and behavior from the prenatal period through adulthood, that we can develop novel prevention strategies for those vulnerable to mental illnesses. This Entry Level Research Professional will be involved in the recruitment, diagnosis, provision of nutritional supplements, and testing of infants, children and adults, including pregnant women and children who live in families with severe mental illnesses. This Research Professional will:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have ongoing contact with research participants.
  • Be involved in subject recruitment.
  • Be involved in the collection of physiological and psychological data from study participants.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team.
  • Coordinate research participant activities across research sites, including, the University of Colorado Denver and possible other local medical institutions
  • Have contact with referral sources.
  • Track patient participation in projects, by developing and maintaining databases, including REDCap, that relate to human-subject issues (e.g., handling of dropouts, special subject requests regarding use of genetic information, etc.).

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest units in the UCD-SOM and is comprised of 5 Divisions. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Bilingual: Bilingual English/Spanish required

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

A. Experience working with infants and/or young children

B. Experience in collecting and processing psychophysiological data

C. Experience in REDCap, Excekm SPSSm or other data management software

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Work well with pregnant women, infants, young children, and their families
  • Work well with families with major mental illness
  • Be able to accurately complete repetitive activities (such as data entry)
  • Be a creative problem solver
  • Have high ethical standards and be able to follow the standards of human subject protection
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
